Viewer and editor access

Understand what viewers, editors, and scenario owners can do.

Choosing a role

The owner chooses Viewer or Editor when creating an invitation. Choose Viewer when someone needs to review a plan, and choose Editor when that person should be able to update the shared Scenario with you.

After the invitation is accepted, the owner can select a different role under Shared by me and choose Update role.

Viewer access

A viewer can:

  • Open the shared Scenario.
  • View income, Bills, Living Costs, one-time events, and projections.
  • Review Scenario results.
  • Leave the shared Scenario.

A viewer cannot:

  • Add, edit, or delete Scenario information.
  • Manage invitations or change another collaborator's role.
  • Delete the entire Scenario.

Editor access

An editor can:

  • Open and review the shared Scenario.
  • Add, edit, and delete Scenario-specific financial information.
  • Edit ordinary Scenario details supported by the application.
  • Leave the shared Scenario.

An editor cannot:

  • Manage sharing or revoke another collaborator.
  • Delete the entire Scenario or change its ownership.
  • Access or modify the owner's Master Library.

Owner access

  • The owner retains ownership of the Scenario.
  • The owner creates and revokes invitations.
  • The owner assigns Viewer or Editor access and can change accepted collaborators' roles.
  • The owner can delete the Scenario.
  • The owner controls whether the Scenario remains shared.

Leaving or losing access

A viewer or editor can choose Leave under Shared with me. Leaving removes that person's access without deleting or changing the owner's Scenario.

The owner can choose Revoke access at any time. If sharing is paused because the owner's plan is no longer eligible, collaborators keep their relationships but cannot open Scenario details until sharing resumes.
